Sound in any film is important, because without the sounds you just have your moving pictures. Sound effects are also important as they help the small details of the door for example, creaking doors, crashes and nature sounds.

Unfriended (2015)

In the trailer of unfriended we have use of both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. In the beginning of the trailer we have use of non-diegetic sound, which was just a instrumental piano playing, then we have some form dialogue after. In addition there was a sound effect of when the girl 'Laura' killed herself in the film, and there was a gun sound effect.
There were more use of non diegetic sounds when they were screaming. The music in the trailer often changes when something happens, for example when there was a blackout, the music when more sinister and changed the atmosphere of the trailer, and this tells us that something is bout to happen to the people in the trailer. There were also some sound effects in between the trailer such as keyboard typing and when they received a message and the ringtone went off.

Sinister (2012)

The trailer starts with a non-diegetic sound of a news reporter, and some background music. Then we have some dialogue of they're talking about moving into their new house and trying to settle. The music changes when the dad goes into the attic and finds the box. When the music changes, it changes the whole atmosphere of the trailer and we know something evil is about to take place. Then there's a sound effect of when the dad is rolling the film on the projector. Every time the evil man Bagul was shown, the music was louder and scarier. There other non-diegetic sounds like screaming and shouting, which made the trailer look and sound more scarier.

The Hallow (2015)

The trailer starts of with relaxing music, and some dialogue. This is a great example of non-diegetic sound. Then all of a sudden the music changes and so does the atmosphere of the whole film. Throughout the trailer there's a mix of non-diegetic sound and diegetic sound, as well as use of sound effects.
